The year MMXVI was a little slow for the legion but we held the Ancients Alive event at Locust Lawn once more. The weather was damp and dreary, overcast, but not raining. It is possible that the weather kept some people at home but we did still get a lot of visitation from people in the area including Girl Scouts and students. Iosephus Balmos and Quinton from Legio III joined our XIIIth personnel, which we were very grateful for. Aurora and her volunteers saw to it that everyone's needs were looked to, providing Roman food and things to drink as well as running slinging demos and period crafts. She also arranged for the event to have two lectures, one of the Cult of Mithras from a university graduate student, another by Captain Salinas of West Point on Greco-Roman warfare. All in all, it was a very enjoyable day and everyone had a good time. We hope that next time we will have more favorable weather to draw in a larger crowd.
Present from Legio XIII were Etruscus as military tribune, legionaries Gerbulo, Servius, and Cartonus. Auxilia Matrovix came as well and acted as an excellent batman to the tribune.
